Barbelle Pr”oat”ein Bars

These yummy crunchy oaty bars are perfect pre or post workout snacks . Also fantastic for that mid day work slump. 

These bars are adaptable and I change the recipe from time to time by adding organic dark chocolate chips or  fruit. Another option if you prefer it to be slightly moister ( I like them crunchy) is to add 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil into the mix before you put the egg and oats in. 

Do bear in mind that all of these additions will change the macros so consider that if you are tracking 

Gluten free, vegetarian yumminess 


  • 1 cup of Peanut butter
  • 3 scoops of preferred protein ( approx 90 grams I use banana flavoured but vanilla works well too)
  • 1/2 cup Maple syrup
  • 2 x Eggs
  • 2 cups of gluten free oats
  • 1/2 cup of desiccated coconut ( unsweetened)
  • 1 tsp of baking soda

Method : 


  • Preheat your oven to 180 degrees
  • In a mixing bowl mix your peanut butter, protein and maple syrup , I use an electric mixer for this
  • Beat in your 2 eggs
  • Stir through your oats and coconut along with the baking soda  – mix it thoroughly
  • Grease up a baking tray with coconut oil , I use one approx 10 x 10
  • Press your dough (it should be quite stiff) firmly into tray and make sure its evenly distributed
  • Bake for 12 minutes of until it browns on top
  • Let them cool and chop into bars – I get 18 from this mix
  • Enjoy
