Diamond RnR- Rest and Recovery supplement tried and tested!

Diamond Nutrition (Platinum and Diamond Nutrition) sent us in their Slim Lite Smoothie and Diamond RnR supplements to put to the Kettlebelle test back in February.

Diamond Nutrition are a range tailored entirely for women taking into account the  needs of both the average woman starting out on her fitness journey and the more seasoned athlete.

The Slim Lite Smoothie got thumbs up all round but we wanted to give the RnR the adequate time to try it out and see the real benefits after a month of use.

Diamond Rn R –What it says on the tin!
Diamond R’n’R combines zinc, magnesium and vitamin B-6 to aid recovery and promote a good nights’ sleep.
It can also be used to replenish your system after emotional stress, illness or intense training.
Many women can get run-down with work or busy family lives, which can lead to zinc and magnesium deficiencies. By supplementing with a product like Diamond R’n’R you can help to promote full body recovery by getting a deep relaxed sleep.

Kettlebelle review!

We tend to focus more on the Macro Nutrients – Protein, Fats, and Carbs and fail sometimes to recognise the effect a lack of important micro nutrients can have on us (vitamins and minerals). These micro nutrients are important in the maintenance of good health and necessary to support exercise and busy lifestyles.

Looking at the 3 ingredients in RnR and their benefits

Zinc helps to keep your immune system strong and eating too little can impair immune function meaning you are more likely to get sick. It also plays a role in protein synthesis helping to build and maintain lean muscle mass.  Zinc also plays a role in maintaining healthy bones.

Magnesium helps with relaxation and is best taken at night. Magnesium is necessary to synthesize proteins, DNA and RNA. It plays a role in our metabolism, and cells use magnesium to transport calcium and potassium ions across the cell walls. Healthy magnesium levels are key to nerve function, muscle contraction, heartbeat, and healthy bones

Vitamin B6 helps the body make several neurotransmitters, chemicals that carry signals from one nerve cell to another. It is needed for normal brain development and function, and helps the body make the hormones serotonin and norepinephrine, which influence mood, and melatonin, which helps regulate the body clock.

I have been taking magnesium supplements and zinc for sometime but I really liked the addition of B6 to RnR ! Anything that’s required for brain function I don’t want to be getting deficient in! Also I find the addition of a B6 supplement to my diet has helped with energy levels.

After trying this product for one month I have to say it does what it says on the pack. I did sleep sounder which in turn gave me more energy and lifted my mood. I’m not a consistent sleeper so anything that helps me get a solid 7-8 hours is a winner!

I did find however that it took me about a week to settle into it, I had very vivid dreams! This has happened to me generally with magnesium supplements and I thought it may reoccur with the change in supplement . After a week however they settled into quite nice dream filled slumbers.

All in all I would gladly recommend this product to women as a general supplement or as a support to their training. It contains a balance of important nutrients your body requires and it aids that all important recovery snoozing too!

Another thumbs up to Platinum and Diamond Nutrition, I look forward to trying some of their new flavours and products coming in 2015!
